report as inappropriateGreat bang for your buck. Nice and romantic instead of touristy (i.e. no announcing what every single landmark is). Small, friendly, cute atmosphere. I very much enjoyed it! Can't beat what you get for this price.
report as inappropriateAs usual the friendly crew goes above and beyond to make your time on the Manhattan fabulous. Celebrated my Mom's 78th bday and what fun - after our complementary glass of Champagne I bought the house Bottle of Classic Harbor Line's own Champagne for only $20 what a treat - coupled with the feast I bought of sushi, fried chicken, fruits & nuts the ride was incredible - the crew even sang Happy Birthday to my Mom
report as inappropriateThis is my first review on Goldstar, so I'll try and make it useful:
The cruise was great! I read over the suggestions from past members, so I was well prepared for the night. I packed a bag with various fruit & cheeses + bottle of wine + waters. If I didnt do this, I dont think my girlfriend and myself would have enjoyed it as much. NO ONE else was prepared with a "picnic" which I could tell takes away from the overall experience. People were forced to buy drinks from the bar, which could get expensive. The cruise wasn't fully booked, so it was extremely comfortable. I'm not sure how good the experience would have been if there were the full 90 passengers as it stated in the admission ticket.
We sat in our own section, allowing us to enjoy the picnic I prepared and the staff uncorked our wine and let us keep it on our table. As well, they provided us with a complimentary glass of champagne.
The staff was extremely friendly and courteous. I recommend taking your seats first inside, having your food and wine and when everyone from outside is tired of the scenic tour and wants to relax, that is the best time to head outside for the view and take in the atmosphere.
Overall, this was a great experience, definitely worth the 50% off, not so sure I'd agree at full price, but great date activity and would recommend it to anyone who comes prepared with the tips. This is not touristy at all and is a great way to spend a romantic night with a loved one.
report as inappropriateI invited friends visiting from Atlanta on this cruise at the behest of a family member who had taken one previously. I was told that it was an exciting and lively trip and that the crew was fun and engaging.
What a disappointment.
Our crew was anything but. They did not interact with, or even speak to the passengers once we set sail. They promised to play music (which might have helped) but didn't until we were about to re-dock at Chelsea Piers - and even then, the song that they chose to play was in French and something no one had heard of before.
I was hoping to show some out-of-towners a great NY time - participating in a fun event with the harbor and skyline as the backdrop. It turned out to be a boring, cold and wet yawn-of-a-trip we all could have done without.
report as inappropriateI surprised my boyfriend with this cruise to celebrate our anniversary. It was very romantic. The weather was great, the staff was friendly, and the boat looked much more attractive in real life than in the pictures. It wasn't too crowded, the music was pleasant, and it was the perfect amount of time on a boat. I preferred going at night with the lights vs. the day/sunset. The staff even asked us if we had been at the Statue of Liberty long enough, or did we want a few more minutes to look at it before we moved on, which was nice.
If you're looking for detailed educational commentary on what you're seeing, then this isn't for you. But if you want a fun romantic way to see the city at night, this is a great option.
