One Night With Janis Joplin: 4th of July Fireworks & BBQ
- Full Price:
- $108.00
- Our Price:
- $100.00
One Night With Janis Joplin adds some actual Fourth of July fireworks to the musical ones produced on stage, with a post-show barbeque buffet on the Arena Stage terrace -- a prime viewing spot for the famed pyrotechnics launched on the National Mall. First up is the show, a part-concert, part-theatrical event that captures Janis Joplin's life and legacy in all its live intensity. Mary Bridget Davies stars as the rock legend in a performance that has audiences dancing in the aisles and critics raving. Featuring powerful musical numbers including "Piece of My Heart, "Summertime" and "Mercedes Benz," as well as one song Joplin never formally recorded, One Night boasts a full band and a cast including Sabrina Elayne Carten, who plays Bessie Smith, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. After the performance, you'll move outside the theater for food and drinks, along with the fireworks viewing. Please see the full event description for the buffet menu. Learn More

Written on Sep 09 2010We went to 'The Art of Brunch' at the Taste of Beverly Hills and it was fabulous. We got there around 10:45am and stayed until 3pm (when they were very politely clearing the venue). There were so many wonderful selections in food and wine. We were happy we got there early to enjoy the free flowing champagne cocktails and other delicious treats. The bloody marys from Firefly were delicious (and strong). The beverage selections were abundant - beer, champagne, bloody marys, rum cocktails and a vast variety of wines. And, the food selections were equally diverse. We spent hours sampling treats from a wonderful variety of restaurants.
I was surprised at how much fun we had. We went to one of the cooking demonstrations, wandered through the pavilions sampling food and drinks, and just enjoyed talking to many of the vendors. Everyone seemed to be enjoying themselves. And, the vendors were taking great pride in showing off their wonderful food and wines. I would also commend the staff for the event. They were very friendly and efficient.
It really was a fun way to spend a beautiful sunday afternoon. One of the wine vendors even commented to us about how much she enjoyed the event and that it was much more low key and cordial than a similar event in LA.
We will definitely keep our eyes out for this event next year!
Written on Sep 07 2010Amazing! The best food and wine festival that I have attended. Well organized, friendly staff, plenty of room to eat, drink and be merry while watch cooking demonstrations, and shows. I loved the Bombay Sapphire booth and their raspberry mint cocktails. Fig's delights were yummy!
Written on Sep 07 2010Excellent event. The food was delicious. Having the opportunity to see Sonos perform was an added treat ... it was almost like a private concert. Plenty of chairs were provided plus lots of shade, so you couldn't ask for more!
