Considered one of the greatest concert films ever made -- it was directed by Martin Scorsese and starred The Band, after all -- The Last Waltz comes to life as a benefit performance at Highline Ballroom, featuring The Rev Tor Band and more than a dozen local musicians, who'll put their own signature stamps on songs from the original soundtrack. The movie captures The Band's final concert in 1978, at which they were joined by all-stars like Bob Dylan, Eric Clapton, Neil Young, Van Morrison, Joni Mitchell and Paul Butterfield for favorites like "The Weight," "Up On Cripple Creek," and "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down." Individual performances consisted of originals, covers, and unique interpretations of show tunes. When Adam and Anthony got together to sing songs from Rent, I thought I had died and gone to heaven ...
They are both very talented and delightful, what a terrific and nostalgic evening :)
Adam Pascal and Anthony Rapp, the iconic stars of Rent, bring their acclaimed concert show to the Highline Ballroom Adam, currently starring in Broadway’s Memphis, and Anthony, star of his autobiographical solo off-Broadway hit Without You, join forces for an evening of solo songs (Adam’s re-imagined Broadway songs “Maria,” “Sunday,” and “What I Did For Love,” and Anthony’s rock classics “Creep” and “Losing My Religion”) and duets, including the Rent hits with which the two are synonymous. The performance will simply be a night of great songs performed by two friends.
