Cirque Shanghai comes to Chicago's Pepsi Skyline Stage with an awe-inspiring show that combines Chinese acrobatics, fast-paced action and contemporary staging that will astound the whole family. In addition, China's own daredevil motorcycle troupe, Imperial Thunder, performs the death-defying act of putting five motorcyclists -- all riding at breakneck speed -- inside a steel globe. You will thrill to this and more, such as bike balances, hoop diving, a group chair stack, the wheel of death, and a teeterboard stunt. The Chicago Tribune hails the production as a "beguiling, sophisticated and contemporary 75-minute show, replete with some bravura acrobatics and infused with fabric-strewn visuals."

If this was a high school performance (and if I had a kid performing), then I would have given another star. But, this performance was really poor (many mistakes, many). What actually became funny was the applause the performers were soliciting from the crowd, even after making blunders. Oh, the crowd...I think this may have been the first live performance that many of them have ever attended. They cheered at everything, to the point that someone just walked on stage they cheered. When the blunders on stage were made, they cheered louder. Overall, I would value the performance at $15 and would encourage attending only if you have a young one that you want to entertain.
