Invisible Man follows the journey of an anonymous black man from his origins in the Deep South to a basement in Harlem, then on to an ivy-covered college campus (where he experiences betrayal) and a nightmare job in a paint factory, finally culminating in violence at a Harlem race riot. Based on the landmark 1952 novel by Ralph Ellison, the show reflects the way a black man moves through an America divided by race and class, struggling with issues of identity in a society that has rendered him invisible. This production of Invisible Man, adapted for the stage by Oscar-nominated filmmaker Oren Jacoby, marks the first time the Ellison Trust has authorized an adaptation of the novel in any medium. It's a savage, hypnotic and impassioned masterpiece that grapples with bigotry, identity and more. Award-winning New York City director Christopher McElroen, a co-founder of the Classical Theatre of Harlem, directs the show.

Tom Stoppard's The Real Thing: Acclaimed Witty Yet Biting Drama

Full Price:
$57.00
Our Price:
$30.00

Oscar and Tony Award-winner Tom Stoppard (Shakespeare in Love, Rosencrantz and Guildenstern Are Dead) penned this witty and incisive drama about a famous playwright who draws on his troubled personal life and unraveling marriage to an actress to create his works. Deeply moving, bitingly funny and said to be at least semi-autobiographical, this razor-sharp drama brilliantly examines the complex nature of love, art and reality. The Real Thing won a Tony for Best Play in its original run and another in 2000 for its Broadway revival. David Muse directs this Studio Theatre production. Learn More
