One Night With Janis Joplin adds some actual Fourth of July fireworks to the musical ones produced on stage, with a post-show barbeque buffet on the Arena Stage terrace -- a prime viewing spot for the famed pyrotechnics launched on the National Mall. First up is the show, a part-concert, part-theatrical event that captures Janis Joplin's life and legacy in all its live intensity. Mary Bridget Davies stars as the rock legend in a performance that has audiences dancing in the aisles and critics raving. Written on Jan 01 2013The Palace Hotel is beautiful and luxurious. I liked how there were multiple rooms with different music so that you're not stuck if the music is not to your liking. My favorite room is the 80s and 90s room. My husband and I got our groove on and the jammin oldies really got me hyped! We had a great time!

Written on Jan 01 2013Pretty decent music, and it was nice to have several choices of rooms and music to dance to. However, there were far too few bartenders. The wait to buy an obscenely overpriced drink was at least 25 minutes at every bar location. $15 for a cup of poor quality champagne, which probably cost less than $15 for an entire bottle, is absolutely ridiculous. The announcer or performer who was speaking on the salsa band's stage leading up to midnight to do the countdown seemed drunk, or just stupid.
