One Night With Janis Joplin adds some actual Fourth of July fireworks to the musical ones produced on stage, with a post-show barbeque buffet on the Arena Stage terrace -- a prime viewing spot for the famed pyrotechnics launched on the National Mall. First up is the show, a part-concert, part-theatrical event that captures Janis Joplin's life and legacy in all its live intensity. Mary Bridget Davies stars as the rock legend in a performance that has audiences dancing in the aisles and critics raving. Featuring powerful musical numbers including "Piece of My Heart, "Summertime" and "Mercedes Benz," as well as one song Joplin never formally recorded, One Night boasts a full band and a cast including Sabrina Elayne Carten, who plays Bessie Smith, Etta James, Aretha Franklin and Nina Simone. Written on Mar 04 2013Not only was there wine tasting, there was liquor, beer and spirits! I especially loved how they had the clothing vendors to shop from. There was a very unique Olive Oil tasting bar (my fave) which was absolutely delicious! Looking forward to the next one!

Written on Mar 04 2013mediocre at best. would not have been happy to pay full price. not very many wineries and only water, cheese and crackers but they had some food trucks. I am used to attending higher end charity functions. guess you get what you pay for. will not attend again

Written on Mar 04 2013This event was OK. I attended with my club sisters. We all left the event glad that we made the journey from all over So. Cali.
The live entertainment was OUTSTANDING! Loved the Okinawa Vendor! Not only did he spend UN-RUSHED time with us, but the other rep greeted us in the grocery store as we SPECIFICALLY looked for HIS SPIRITS.
Some improvements should be made:
a) Balloons and Signs on the street level would have prevented those NOT FROM THE AREA from passing and circling back in search of the event.
b) We were NOT allowed to BUY bottles of wine - AS WE TASTED!
c) Event tee shirts (3rd Annual...) were unavailable.
d) The purchase exceptions were the CRAFT VENDORS & FOOD TRUCKS.
e) A bit more DIVERSITY for next year - Wines/Vendors/Food
