Description
An American Hippie in Israel (1972)
Murderous mimes, robots, blood thirsty sharks, free loving debauchery and poignant anti-war monologues by raving mad hippies. Far out! All this and more is provided in writer-director-prophet Amos Sefer's allegorical independent film, "An American Hippie in Israel." Clad in his dirty jeans, beads, and a crude hand-made rabbit-fur vest, Israeli Actor Asher Tzarfati plays American "hippie" Mike. Thumbing a ride, the hippie meets up with red-haired, sunglass-clad vixen, Elizabeth. When Elizabeth offers the hippie a ride in her groovy convertible, they are soon confronted by some rather menacing mimes. The Hippie divines that he and Elizabeth (and some other hippie friends) should find a place where they can live in peace and freedom. They set off in search of a desert island utopia. The first act of freedom is to strip down and go for a skinny dip and then do a wriggly hippie "hoe down" on the beach. But the fun doesn't last long. The perils of survival and the basic necessities of food, water and shelter begin to take their toll on the naive hippie clan as Eden quickly devolves into a fiendish hell.
The Ettes
Garage Rockers the Ettes are one of the heaviest riff rockers making records. Simple riff rock with a beat punk attitude. They have shared the stage with The New York Dolls, The Black Keys, The Black Lips, Kings of Lion, and Juliette Lewis. Fans of 60s underground films they are flying down from Nashville to be a part of the evening. “As fetching as they are ferocious” Magnet Magazine, “This retro beat punk badn oozes sexuality” Nylon Magazine.
