My boyfriend and I are big fans of Lincoln, and we were so fortunate to be sitting in the balcony right across from his private box. Beautiful and intimate performances, we gabbed about our personal experiences for an hour. A play about Lincoln in...continued

A terrific event--the play, casting, performances, theater ambiance, all were super. The Lincoln museum annex is outstanding. It was a wonderfully informative and thoroughly enjoyable experience.

Great evening of theater especially for Lincoln and Civil War history lovers. Great acting especially the Douglas character and his wife. While I've heard of the debates, I had never before heard most of the text and also enjoyed the humor and...continued

Great performances all around, but especially Sarah Zimmerman as Mrs. Douglas. Seeing this play at Ford's Theatre was an incredibly special experience. Hearing Lincoln's words with a view of the box where he was shot gave this history junkie...continued

"The Rivalry" brought to life some facets of our history that had been unclear or unknown. It was well acted and it forcefully demonstrated the issues in the debates, issues that threatened to rend the nation (which they did a few years later). It...continued

The play itself was great. The actors did a great job of bringing the debates to life. Our seats, however, had an obstructed view - not something we were warned about before purchasing the tickets. To add insult to injury, the show was not sold...continued

Three person play performed in the restored historic Ford theater. Play captures language and essence of the Lincoln-Douglas debates along with some sense of their personal relationship. Douglas's wife is the third character who provides a more...continued

All three actors were excellent. I think history wonks will enjoy this the most, but the langauage is stirring enough to fully engage a broader audience. Very well done.

This show was perfect for the intimate Ford's Theater and historically appropriate as well. We had a great time and thoroughly enjoyed the evening.

Fine acting, felt realistic and uncontrived. If you like that period of history, you will love this. No better place than Ford's to see it, but balcony seats can be really cramped on knees.

A look at the Lincoln Douglas debates from the point of view of the wife of Douglas. It presented a new perspective on what happened and how both men ulitimately put country over politcal advantage. If only today's politicians would do the...continued

A thoroughly enjoyable performance. I thought there was a chance I might find the play a little boring, but to my complete surprise Ifound it lively and completely engrossing.

I enjoyed the play very much as did my guests. Unfortunately because of the threatening weather we had to leave at intermission. I would have liked to see the second half.

It brought the debates to life. I have a greater appreciation for the time period and characters because all three actors gave great performances.

Rivaltry is a nice suprise. Rounded, thought through, intelligent performance of an historic play that gets it's strength from original speaches and heartfull and artfull acting. It's a delight and socialy relevant piece of historic information.

I'm not a particularly political person but still really enjoyed seeing a rendition of these debates. It was quite entertaining and educational.

It was great to see the show in DC, although wasn't the best play ever.
