Mr Domingo not skilled enough to bring out the beauties of the score - it was most disappointing. The two leads started well and, as always with good artists, improved throughout the performance. The tenor, I hope, will make the decision to...continued

Although not my favorite opera musically, the production was excellent! Great costumes and sets and superb singing from VittorioGrigolo andNino Machaidze, both real singers to watch. One of the best of the year.

I'm not a big Gounod fan, I prefer Verdi and Mozart operas. The score for R&J left me a little flat, but the performance and design were spectacular. If you are not a Gounod fan see this performance, If you are a Gounod fan see it again and again.

The leads are two brilliant young singers. Attractive and good actors, they're ideal to play the star-crossed lovers, and their singing is wonderful. Great chorus, orchestra in fine form. The other singers were very good. If you like opera,...continued

Outstanding!! If you like opera this is a must see. If you don't like opera this will win you over. I would give it more stars if I could. The singing was absolutely wonderful as were the sets and costumes. The tenor Grigolo sang as if...continued

They were good singers. The only things were:
The Juliet did not enunciate her french very well
The Romeo was completely overacting to the point of annoyance
I have to say that the libreto just doesn't do Shakespeare justice.

Always a pleasure to attend an event at the Dorothy Chandler. The set and costuming were wonderful. (This is not a "beginners" opera. So if it's your first time, go for something more fun, like Carmen.)

Beautifully staged adaption of the classic Romeo & Juliet play...Vittorio Grigolo is my new crush! his incredible voice with an equally incredible physique leaves one speechless. Nino Machiadze is splendid as Juliette

So happy I didn't miss this stunning performance - Romeo and Juliette both outstanding singers and actors. Wonderful to see many young people in the audience. A classic lives on creatively staged by LA Opera.

Nino Machaidze had some problems with her high notes. Two clear flat clunkers, but other than that, she is easy to look at and to listen to. Vittorio Grigolo on the other hand was spectacular. Forget about his dashing good looks, his voice is...continued

Opera was sensational. Great voices and acting. Goldstar's fee of $13 per ticket is far too high!!!

The opera is quite lovely and performed by wonderful and engaging professionals. The staging often seemed in opposition to the libretto which made me wonderful which to follow: the libretto or the staging. It also seemed an odd choice not to...continued

The two leads have excellent voices. Be aware that sitting the back of the Orchestra does give you a great view of the actors, stage, sets. BUT the prompters that are showing you in English what is being sung in Italian are off to the left and...continued
