The staging was very good. The music was adequate. I think the 10 year old child characters should have been played by children. The actors' voices were very adult. Still, lovely familiar childhood story.
The settings were beautiful and imaginitive, but the music was not satisfying to me. It was not melodic and needed a lot more "singing," than "taking." Also, there was no "choreography" in the movement of the players.
I thought this performance was dreadful. Since my friend agreed, we left at intermission. We kept waiting for an aria or some nice music but got none. Merely putting commentary to toneless music does not constitute an opera.
