From chart-topping radio hits ("You're Sixteen") to award-winning Disney movie songs ("Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious") and beloved theme park classics ("It's a Small World"), Richard M. Sherman is one of the most prolific and acclaimed family-friendly song composers of all time. The Sherman Brothers songwriting duo, comprised of Richard M. Sherman and his late brother, Richard B. Sherman, was a veritable two-man Disney hit factory, crafting memorable melodies for numerous films including Mary Poppins, The Jungle Book, Winnie the Pooh, Chitty Chitty Bang Bang and many more. Over the course of their nearly half-century songwriting career, the brothers were honored with two Academy Awards (for the music of Mary Poppins), three Grammy Awards and 24 gold and platinum albums. This conversation at Goodman Theatre, moderated by Chicago Tribune critic Chris Jones, takes a look back at Sherman's astonishing career and achievements. Along with the illuminating discussion, you'll also be treated to a light breakfast buffet reception plus an exclusive sampling of some of Sherman's unforgettable songs. Learn More

Description
In this intimate evening, Sally takes you on a journey. From growing up in Portland, Oregon singing in school the naughty songs her Dad taught her and the silly ones her Mom wrote to performing in the television box when the insides were out for repair. From being the "most promising student" at the Pasadena Playhouse College of Theatre Arts to auditioning for commercials and not being cast as The Ponds Girl, but as friend of the Ponds Girl. From working on the Smothers Brothers Comedy Hour and The Tim Conway Comedy Hour, to dating Elvis Presley, to the crazy audition process for All in the Family and stories from years of working with Carroll, Jean and Rob. Sally also explores her years in the theater with some of her favorite songs from shows like Hello, Dolly! and Annie. She introduces us to all of the famous people in her life along the way and discusses some of the travails and joys of being a Mom.
