A very interesting production. The was utilized very well, I loved the way they made you feel like you were a part of the action in a loud boxing ring with only 5 people's hands and feet and some arena lighting. The Kirk Douglas Theater is always...continued

The play and some of it's key plot points REALLY need work, and the lead actor was a bit robotic. Two amazing highlights were the choreography (the always on point Ameenah Kaplan) and the sister, played by the spellbinding Diarra Kilpatrick. The...continued

It's different...not what you might expect for a story being told about a boxer. A little slow, but the suspense kept your interest.

We saw the first performance of the Royale and were impressed with the depth of emotion, the staging and lighting, and with a number of winning performances. As with many new plays, there are things to adapt and change, especially regarding pacing...continued

I very much enjoyed this place. A totally different theater experience! My seats were great - 6th row center. Could not have asked for a more delightful evening. Great date night!

A brilliantly constructed story with a strong, charismatic ensemble. David St. Louis is outstanding in his portrayal of Jay "The Sport"Jackson, a character loosely based on John "Jack" Johnson, the first African American heavyweight boxing champion.

New and different, the movement and rhythm used for the piece is exciting and contributes greatly to the overall theatrical experience. I recommend it highly.

The theater entrance was inviting and comfortable. All the people working there seemed to be enjoying themselves with an original engaging introduction instead of just sitting there waiting to get into the theater. The play was a unique...continued

We were greeted and invited to play a game (the three stations) in which I won something!
That was great as was the $8 drink with a kick. The actors were great and the only thing lacking was that the story drew us in to a no win situation. ...continued
