Dreadful. How to take a perfect movie and ruin it. The most overhyped show since Peter and the Starcatcher. What were these people thinking? Comedy numbers for very minor characters who took over the production. You couldn't care about the two...continued

This is a simple story but stunningly told. The cast was great and the theatrics of the production were amazingly beautiful.

Marvelous! The presentation cleverly mixes the Noel Coward scripts for "Still Life" and "Brief Encounter" with his songs. Th sophisticated ingenuous staging mixes music, film and music in a fresh and engaging way. This is the kind of theater...continued

I saw it nearly 2 years ago at St. Ann's Warehouse in NY. It was, and continues to be one of the most beautiful, innovative, gorgeously realized productions I've ever seen. I can't recommend it highly enough.

I saw a dramatic version of A Brief Encounter over in London back in 1999 and to this day it is one of the best pieces of theatre I have ever seen. It's a shame that this newer production turned it into a campy musical comedy. The music itself...continued

The new Goldsmith theater at the Wallis Annenberg center is beautiful and the show which I had seen before in San Francisco in 2009 was as enchanting as ever. This production featured the Broadway cast and they were very polished. A lot of 1930's...continued

Over-hyped play with a thin script and only 2 minutes of tension. The original title "Still Life" would be more appropriate as nothing happens for 90 LONG minutes. It is extremely British in acting style and even kept the original hand gestures...continued

Really great production blending an adaptation of "Brief Encounter" with a handful of songs from Noel Coward. Kneehigh's production design was similarly clever and inventive and it was just a fun night at the theater. Kudos to the Annenberg for...continued

I thought it was an inventive production and a twist on the storytelling. However, my husband, the playwright, hated it. He expected to see the traditional play. Before you attend, know the type of experience you are in for.

An amazing version of the well-known play. Don't miss it.
As it has been our experience with Goldstar all these years, no problem at all getting the tickets and good seats (the new theater is beautiful and pretty small so there are no "bad" seats...continued

This was a brilliantly conceived performance of a classic Noel Coward play/film. A thoroughly modern take, which included musical numbers, film clips and even puppets (minimally), that took nothing away from the original story and sentiment....continued

Let me first say that the setting in the Annenberg theater is beautiful. The seats are quite comfortable. There is ample legroom. And the acoustics are so good the actors could perform (if they wanted to) without mics.

We loved everything about...continued

Beautiful theatre, fun show. Come early to look around the space and enjoy the before-show music. Then relax and enjoy the mash-up of film and stage. It's a treat.
