The venue has an interesting interior with table seating, an upper tier of VIP tables and a standing/dancing area. It's a comfy place to have drink and a bite with eclectic giant gold Buddahs,Burgundy drapery and modern star shaped lights/sound baffley things hanging from the ceiling.
That said, I sat in the "VIP" tier and found the acoustics terrible. The sound was loud but not clean. On the floor the sound was a little better, but not much. The Tubes started their set right on time with some of their classic numbers, but lacked the verve of those halcyon performances that people who love them would have hoped to see (no chainsaws, no theatrics). As so much of their music has to do with their clever lyrics, having a crisp sound system would probably have helped. I'm not a huge Tubes fan, but I went with a great attitude and enthusiasm , but they just didn't capture me with the music. The food at the Canyon is very average quality, and pricey with a prime rib steak entree at 39.00 and chicken at about 25.00. Lasagna was fresh from the freezer, lackluster, and about 24.00. Martinis, though tasty and much needed, were 9.00, and served in light weight plastic stemware, so hang on. At those prices you don't want to spill a drop.

Great band, great sound, lots of fun. They sound very good despite the years and the drugs. Worth seeing again.

Highly entertaining with masterful musicians. Last time I saw this band was in the very early 80s at the UCSB ECEN. I picked up the (then) base player Bill Spooner at the Goleta airport in my '73 Capri to take him to the show. At that show Fee Waybill had more of a side show going with 2 scantily clad young ladies performing on stage with him. While their presence was missed, he did not need them for this show at all! Great venue and great time!

The Tubes rocked hard for over 2 hours with an extremely energetic and diverse set. They really put out and seem to be getting better each time I see them. They are also fan freindly by doing a meet and greet after the show. The Canyon Club is a great venue to see any performer that you would like to see.Great sight lines and atmosphere.

The Canyon club was really a great venue.....small & intimate. We booked a table for dinner to have a seat. If you don't mind standing for the evening, there is an open dance floor (almost no one was dancing)....all were standing up. The volume was LOUND!!! (Even with foam earplugs!). Enough to make your ears ring by the end of the night. Wish'd it wasn't so loud.

I thought they were really great. I didn't realize they had so many good songs. Excellent musicians.

The band was great, but the poor quality of the venue's sound system really detracted from the performance. The mix and speakers are dreadful and much of the guitar and bass ended up sounding like a mass of distortion. Do NOT go to this venue if you want to hear good music through a good sound system. The drinks and food are also vastly overpriced

Great as usual. I really hope these guys keep rockin'. They're an institution. Want to know HOW good they are? The Foo Fighters were in the audience. That says it all!

<p>The Tubes were one of the cult favorites of the New Wave rock scene and they are still making music on the edge today.

Their live shows are a manic mixture of loud rock music, satirical lyrics, outrageous theatrics and burlesque.
