I attended with my mother (who was visiting from NYC). It was great to learn of all the songwriting adventures Ashford & Simpson had together throughout the years. All the hits they're responsible for in R & B genre. Those songs have outlived many of the artists who originally recorded them (Ray Charles, Marvin Gaye, etc.). Also, I grew up (in Brooklyn) with the bass player's (Eluriel Tinker Barfield) two sons and am happy to see him back on the stage after such a long hiatus from the music industry. My mother and I were in seventh heaven after leaving The Canyons. What a great experience.Written on Nov 02 2009

Didn't know how many hit songs they as song writers were responsible for...Wonderful just wonderful!
Took the whole family from age 4 to 50 and we all loved it. Perfect venue for it too.

Description
As songwriters and performers, Ashford & Simpson have long ranked among the most acclaimed and admired creative couples in contemporary music. Their award-winning collaborations began over four decades ago. The duo essentially had two careers: one as a successful writing and producing team and the other as singers and performers themselves.
They started their career in the mid-1960s, writing for artists such as The 5th Dimension ("California Soul"), Aretha Franklin ("Cry Like A Baby"), and Ray Charles ("Let's Go Get Stoned" and "'I Don't Need No Doctor"). Their work with Motown included hits such as "Ain't No Mountain High Enough", "Your Precious Love", "Ain't Nothing Like the Real Thing", and "You're All I Need to Get By".
Ashford & Simpson's career as recording artists includes the hits "Solid", "I'll Be There for You", "It Seems to Hang On", "Love Don't Make It Right" and "Outta the World."
