The Canyon is a mid-size venue easily accessible from Highway 101 in Agoura Hills, CA (northwestern LA county) and is located next to a frontage road along the southern side of the Highway. With 2 bars @ either end of a large room facing one another & if you can bypass the decor that clashes (think new wave vs old west cathouse) you'll be fine. The stage isn't large, but did manage to fit Jimmie's entire band (11 members including Jimmie) onstage. There is a lot of floor seating & elevated seating, mostly larger tables with overstuffed chairs as well as a few "bar-height" tables & chairs thrown in but everyone is seated by what my hostess called "family style" which I like, especially since I came by myself.
There are pool tables in an adjacent room, plenty of free nearby parking and the Woodranch BBQ restaurant is right next door. I'd recommend eating there or at a place of your choosing, if you're hungry, ahead of time as I found the food at The Canyon to be pricey, and the menu lacking in variety. I ordered the chicken satay....the peanut dipping sauce was good but the chicken was dry.
Everyone seated at my table thoroughly enjoyed the show....the warm-up band was good (27 Miles) and the show put on by Mr Van Zant & his band had at least half the crowd up on their feet...some dancing...their delivery of every song was top drawer...also, the sound system was clear and just loud enough for a room the size of the Canyon.
