Classic rock veterans Steve Morse and Pat Travers and their bands share a bill at The Canyon. Morse was a founding member of Southern rock/jazz fusion cult heroes Dixie Dregs. He's also been a member of Kansas, and is currently the guitar player for Deep Purple. Pat Travers got his start in the '70s blues-rock scene, recording the hits "Boom Boom (Out Go The Lights)" and "Snortin' Whiskey" and earning a reputation as a ferocious live guitarist. Local band Hammering Process opens the show.

If this had been the first time I saw The Steve Morse Band, I would have probably been blown away by this performance. However, I've seen him many times with his band and this show seemed like they were a little rusty/ under-rehearsed, which was a little bit of a shocker. There were some weird sound issues as well (and the bass wasn't audible enough to really enjoy), but their playing and musicianship is undeniable. Having said all that, it was still very worth attending and Pat Travers was pretty good as well.

Well, Im biased in the sense that Steve Morse is a guitar hero of mine and any chance to see him play, is a good thing.

Pat Travers, was awesome too. I didn't expect them to be this good, but they were. They played all the greatest hits you would have expected

The sound at the Canyon Club is good, but not great, but for me it's a sacrifice Im willing to tolerate being so close to my home.

What a treat. Pat Travers would have been great on his own, loud and rocking from start to finish. But, then on came Steve Morse. With "just" a drummer and bass, they outplayed most bands with twice as many players. From out and out rock, to the most delicate and intricate work you are likely to hear, it was pure joy from start to finish. Steve's sound was perfect, you could hear every note (if your ears could respond quickly enough). If you missed this one, don't check it out on YouTube unless you want to regret not going for a very long time

Amazing show! Pat Travers was a blast. Steve Morse played with his trio and blew everyone away. Canyon Club was great, we reserved for dinner and they sat us at table near the stage with great sitelines. Dinner, great seats, and an amazing show. Perfect night. Thanks Goldstar!

More Information About Steve Morse Band and Pat Travers Band

Description

Steve Morse's career has encompassed rock, country, funk, jazz, classical, and a fusion of these muscal genres. In addition to a thriving solo career, Morse has been (and continues to be) a member of several renown bands. Currently, Morse is the guitar player for Deep Purple, but has also played with Kansas, Rush, and others, in addition to being a founding member of the Dixie Dregs.

Since the critically acclaimed 1976 debut album featuring his own brand of high quality seventies guitar rock and roll, Pat Travers has gone on to deliver melodic eighties rock, a blues period throughout most of the nineties, noted performances with various power trios during the first few years of the new millennium, and a full blooded return to the trademark Pat Travers Band sound as he enters his fifth performing and recording decade. "Boom Boom Out Go The Lights"!
