Dave Wakeling, a rock icon as frontman for ska pioneers the English Beat, brings an amazing all-star backing band to the Canyon to play the hits of The English Beat, General Public and more. It will be a rock-steady night with the ever-changing King of Ska. The English Beat were one of the most successful bands of the early '80s, and had hits with "Mirror in the Bathroom," "Save it for Later," "I Confess," "Stand Down Margaret" and their cover of the Smoky Robinson classic "Tears of a Clown." The Hips are such amazing musicians...technically and artistically. The sound was perfection. The Canyon is an interesting venue. The seats (when you dine there, you get seats at a table) are super comfortable. The bathrooms are clean and well-stocked. The sound, lighting, air conditioning are all perfect. I would say the main detraction is the food/prices. The quality is mediocre, which is fine if you are not paying exorbitant prices for it, but you do. And they lure you into dining there by saying you can't have a seat unless you do. However, I noticed for this show and the last one I attended there, that the dining option doesn't get full (meaning you can grab an empty seat without dining), so if you are willing to roll the dice, I would recommend eating elsewhere and just showing up for the band(s).

The Mother Hips are a relevant, super-talented, veteran road band. Great songwriting and tonal orchestration. I am sorry to have to mention them within this context. The Canyon on the other hand as a venue is an overpriced, trampled, drab stop...continued
