Not sure why people reviewing so far are giving this event such high marks. Although I suppose it is admirable that they continue to play 50 years after first getting together, there is a reason why prevailing opinion is that rock and roll should be performed by the youth of the day and this concert proved it accurate. There's just a lack of energy that is necessary when those over 70 are performing. Just standing around and playing instrucments is just not enough for a complete concert experience. Just my opinion though, people seemed to like it ..... although there was, not surprisingly, little energy in the applause/ovation and participation during the performance. Apparently they too were saving themselves for later in the evening. It was, after all, Saturday night.Written on Oct 05 2011

Great fun, and the band sounds excellent. Colin's still an amazing vocalist, and charming. I enjoyed the mix of new material and classics, as did the audience.Written on Oct 03 2011

The Zombies did a combo of old & new materialWritten on Oct 02 2011
the New material has been praised by the critics, i liked about half of what i heard. What i really paid to see was Rod Argent wailing on the hammond, and he sure didn't dissapoint my eagerness to hear "Hold your head high" the long sustainded low organ notes were startling, And have always loved "Time of the Season" Spoiler Alert: a little surprise end song of "God made Rock and Roll", good stuff! How the hell does Collins voice still sound so good after all these years? The Strawbs also performed on stage, having not played in the U.S for some 30 odd years. Very nice acoutic set. Not being overly familar with their material, the sound is typical English folk, a cross between I'd say Steeleyespan, and Roy Harper. Both put on great performaces, so I'd recommend you not miss out!

So cool to see this classic band and share in their 50th anniversary! Wow!! They were great!. Vocals -top notch. Colin sounds better now! He is a true performer. Loving his role and the audience. He was so enjoyable. Everybody seemed to being having a great time and it showed. Also great to hear some old Argent songs. This was on of the best shows I've seen this year.Written on Oct 09 2011

Description
The Zombies were the second UK group following the Beatles to score a #1 hit in America. With gorgeous melodies, breathy vocals, choral back-up harmonies and a jazzy influence, their singles like "She's Not There" and "Tell Her No" stood out as unlikely hits on 1960s pop radio. Ironically, the group broke up in 1968 just prior to achieving their greatest success: the chart-topping single "Time of the Season," from their famously misspelled swan-song album Odessey & Oracle (recently ranked #80 in Rolling Stone's 500 Greatest Albums of All Time.) Lead singer Colin Blunstone went on to develop a critically-lauded solo career ("Say You Don't Mind," "Misty Roses"), while keyboardist/songwriter Rod Argent rocked arenas in the '70s with his eponymous band Argent ("Hold Your Head Up," "God Gave Rock 'n' Roll to You".)
In the intervening decades, new generations of fans continued to discover The Zombies, while each year another breaking rock band cites Odessey & Oracle as a major influence. By 2001, Blunstone and Argent could no longer resist the demands to reunite and resurrect The Zombies. Rhino Records soon released a new studio album and a live CD/DVD, a live performance was featured in a PBS special about British rock icons, and the band embarked on several North American tours, including the Little Steven's Underground Garage and HippieFest tours, plus a stint for Rod Argent in Ringo Starr's All-Starr Band.
In commemoration of the group's formation in 1961, The Zombies will be releasing a 50th Anniversary CD of new songs in 2011, and embarking on a major tour. Joining Blunstone and Argent in the band's current incarnation are legendary bassist Jim Rodford (formerly of Argent and The Kinks), his son Steve Rodford on drums, and acclaimed session guitarist Tom Toomey. The live anniversary concerts will span their shared legacy, from early singles (including songs never performed live in America before!) to Odessey & Oracle favorites, solo material and beyond!
Special guests The Strawbs, also formed in the 1960s, and quickly made a name for themselves on the English folk scene. However, by the early '70s, this pioneering outfit had pushed the boundaries of the folk genre, and their ground-breaking succession of albums such as Hero and Heroine and Ghosts earned them a progressive rock label in America, alongside Genesis, Yes, and Jethro Tull. The Strawbs' rotating line-up has showcased a fine array of British musicians over the years, including keyboardist Rick Wakeman (prior to joining Yes) and the late singer Sandy Denny (of Fairport Convention).
The 2011 tour will feature a compelling acoustic performance by the core Strawbs singer/guitarist trio of Dave Lambert, Chas Cronk, and founder/songwriter, Dave Cousins, hailed by the All Music Guide as possibly "the most talented Dylan-influenced songwriter to come out of England."
