On the stage, his beloved works include musical contributions to A Chorus Line and They're Playing Our Song, while on the screen, he's helped score such classics as The Sting, The Way We Were, The Spy Who Loved Me, Ordinary People, Sophie's Choice and many more. This was a masterful interpretation by Richard Stoltzman of the Mozart Clarinet Concerto. We have heard him in France and at Strathmore, so to hear him in this venue -- our first visit to the Schlesinger Concert Hall in Alexandria -- was to experience the wonderful acoustics of this building with a great afternoon of Mozart. (Stoltzman spontaniously offered a jazz interpretation of a Benny Goodman piece after the Concerto that gave everyone goosebumps and smiles.) The Requiem followed to showcase ASO and the combined voices of The Alexandria Choral Society and The Metropolitan Chorus, totaling 122 voices in the choirs. All were packed tightly on the stage, along with the four vocalists, and their effort produced a majestic presentation of Mozart's last (and unfinished by him) musical work. Impressive. Director Kim Allen Kluge should be proud of this performance. We will seek out him and this venue for future events.Written on Feb 13 2012

Don't be late! Due to a car accident on Route 66, we were 9 minutes late. They said we would not be seated, and could listen to the music over the loudspeakers in the lobby...because it was a solo performance with no breaks between movements. We are sure it must have been a great performance. We lost out, along with a number of others who could not get there on time due to the accident.Written on Feb 13 2012

ASO did a wonderful job in accompanying Stoltzman. The bowing of the string sections was synchronized and clean. Stoltzman was swarmed during the intermission by people waving $20 bills in one hand and his CD in the other. I got the last Mozart CDWritten on Feb 13 2012
