This was superb. My husband and I almost talked ourselves out of going because we were so tired--I'm glad we did not, because it was truly uplifting.

The Schlessinger Concert Hall is really lovely, with its blonde-colored wood panels and sleek almost Swedish-style minimalism. It also has excellent acoustics (except if you're seated in the rear section on the floor--avoid this location at all costs).

Choralis is quite an accomplished group for an amateur choir (with professional section leaders) and ranks amongst the top choirs of DC. Their board includes the directors Donald McCullough and J Reilly Lewis, directors of two of DC's top choral groups. Choralis director Gretchen Kuhrmann achieves wonderful results and is inspiring to watch. We left feeling uplifted not just from the music (who doesn't love Bach's Mass in B Minor?), but also from the enthusiastic energy with which it was performed.
