I was extremely appreciative of the Goldstar discount which made this event more affordable for us. (I do not know if I would have booked this event for the regular fee which is a bit pricey!) My in-laws who live outside of the US were here for a visit; so my wife & I booked this cruise for their last night with us. We very much enjoyed the whole evening. The food was fresh and well-prepared, the music and the ambience were very effective. We were fortunate enough to have a beautiful night of weather and made great use of the upper deck to take in the sights. As the sun went down and the lights went on, the sights of DC and Georgetown were absolutely beautiful. It was a wonderful way to end my in-laws' visit. This was a totally enjoyable event overall and I am grateful to Goldstar for giving us this opportunity.

The food was quite good for a boat, but hardly worth a list price of $80 pp. Note the fine-print, gratuity and tax (totaling around $18 pp) are collected on board, in addition to whatever you drink. Lots of 40 somethings and 50 somethings celebrating special events.

Great views of Washington.

I need to note, for the record, I was expecting something rather different from what I got and that's why I was fairly disappointed. Let me first explain what I was expecting. I was expecting a middle aged (30 - 40 something) crowd on a small cruise boat with lost of dance worthy but not Top 40 or current music where they would serve a fantastic dinner feast.

The boat was nice and the accommodations were very comfortable. The cruise was beautiful. The scenery was really nice and being up on the upper deck with the stars and the moon and all the lights of downtown was quite romantic.

The crowd was quite a bit older (I'd say more 50's and 60's), and thus the music was really quite slow. My husband doesn't dance, so slow jams are lost on me. I was hoping for a mix of ballroom dancing options and a couple of boogie songs. During the last 45 minutes of the cruise, we got a few options that worked. The DJ also didn't know how to work the CD player well, so songs didn't fade from one to another so much as jump from track to track.

My biggest complaint was the food. My colleagues (we went as a group of 3 couples) said they got precisely what they expected in that regard - food that was kind of blah and par, catering to the blandest taste buds. Yikes. Not my bag at all.

I would do it again, but not for a romantic cruise. I think a brunch cruise would be better so that I could see the monuments. Additionally, breakfast food is easier to cook with more exciting flavors. And I wouldn't be going in the middle of the morning to dance.

The cruise was okay but I wasn’t expecting to be charged for each non-alcoholic beverage and refill. When the evening was over and the bill was presented we were charged for a total of 17 drinks. I wish it would have been noted somewhere that non-alcoholic beverages (coffee, tea and soda) were NOT included with the meal nor were the refills.
