What a marvelous evening. We throughly enjoyed every aspect of the event. The music was glorious and the concert hall was a perfect fit for the orchestra and choral. Branford Marsalis was extraordinary and added just the right touch of stardom on a glamorous event. I thought the Schlesinger Concert Hall was astonishing and the pre show lecture on Schubert (or was it Schumann??)was educational and entertaining as well. Brava to the lecturer. She was wonderful. I went to the Mandarin Oriental hotel afterwards to hear a Jazz vocalist and quartet led by pianist Chris Grasso. Branford Marsalis would have been equally comfortable in this setting as well. If you like Jazz vocalists try the Mandarin Oriental on Friday and Saturday evenings.
This was a superb musical evening. Branford Marsalis certainly did not disappoint and the premiere of the Vocalise composition by Kim Allen Kluge was wonderful. The soloists were also terrific. Thank you ASO.
The conductor was very entertaining. Branford marsalis was great. The kids thought the symphony was OK.
