Members Who Went Said:I continue to be amazed at the high quality of the acting, singing and performing talent here in DC. This show was atonishingly well-performed by two singers with Broadway credentials. Their experience, savvy and charisma shone through to make this an incredible event. The music, singing and staging flowed remarkably well, the voices were powerful throughout, the emotions and acting felt authentic, the actors were young and attractive and incredibly well-disciplined....My gosh, if you like a simple, original story and fantastic performances, this show was amazing!! I highly recommend it. The music and lyrics were wonderful, and I have been humming a few songs from the show so you know they are memorable. I enjoyed the fact that this was a very light story—folk/punk musicians from Scotland aim for the heights in London and NYC—with a small dose of emotional depth and a lot of charm. The production was seamless and singing, outstanding. Does it need more bite? Does it need a shortened second half? Possibly. But I don't want to nitpick what are some of the best singing/musical performances I've ever seen in DC. YOu will say "WOW!"
David Tannous A wonderful evening! The two performers (stars!) were magnificent, magnetic, pure magic together, and the musicians gave perfect support (energy to spare, and not too loud, not too soft, just right!). I would recommend this to anyone who loves theater and music. This production is headed to New York — see it here in Alexandria while you've got the chance! Another triumph for MetroStage (and, no, I don't work for them!).
Mulva Wow! Broadway caliber performances delivered in this gem of a show. I laughed, I cried, and I am going back to see it again. If you loved Rent, you will love Rooms even more. Do not miss this! |
