For the fifth year in a row, you can groove to straight-ahead jazz with a laid-back vibe every Wednesday night throughout the summer. The Rose Garden at Orange County's Newport Beach Marriott Hotel & Spa provides the perfect outdoor oceanside backdrop for this collection of top artists, who'll all be playing two one-hour sets, separated by a half-hour intermission. Among the performances this year are a Birthday Celebration for Barbara Morrision with the Houston Person Quartet, a Brazilian Blowout with Bill Cunliffe and Wycliffe Gordon's tribute to Louis Armstrong. Please see the full event description for the lineup. Learn More
The Grove is a challenging space to play in, and seating is uncomfortable since dinner tables are set up so that you end up sitting perpendicular to the stage. Certainly you can move your chair, but if it's a full house, it is hard to maneuver so that you are not blocking people.Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle: Songs & Stories, Together On Stage info • Jul 14 2014 star this tip starred
