The Grove is a challenging space to play in, and seating is uncomfortable since dinner tables are set up so that you end up sitting perpendicular to the stage. Certainly you can move your chair, but if it's a full house, it is hard to maneuver so that you are not blocking people.

The Grove of Anaheim was a fun, smaller space (bigger than House of Blues, smaller than Nokia). Easy parking, lots of eating options within walking distance. It was mostly standing room with room to move, but there were some seats at the back of...continued

Description

The legendary music of the new wave group Oingo Boingo will be brought to life once again when Johnny Vato’s Tribute Halloween featuring former members of Oingo Boingo returns to the Grove of Anaheim.

Ten years after Oingo Boingo’s farewell Halloween show in 1995, Johnny Vatos, the drummer for Oingo Boingo decided to revive the music of the group and came up with the “Johnny Vatos Tribute to Halloween” concert concept. Fellow Oingo Boingo band members John Avila (bass), Steve Bartek (lead guitar), Sam “Sluggo” Phipps (sax) and Doug Legacy (keyboards) agreed to join Vatos in this venture. The end result was a sold out performance at the Grove of Anaheim in October 2005 dedicated to their biggest fans.

Four years later, the show will make its triumphant return to the Grove. Performing classic Oingo Boingo hits like “Nothing Bad Ever Happens to Me,” “Wild Sex,” “Little Girls,” and “Goodbye Goodbye,” Johnny Vato’s Tribute Halloween Concert will feature a set list to die for. Fans will celebrate with demon-like intensity reminiscent of Oingo Boingo shows from Halloweens past.

Certain to be a “Dead Man’s Party,” don’t miss Johnny Vato’s Tribute Halloween Concert when it returns to the Grove of Anaheim.
