One of Rolling Stone's Greatest Guitarists of All Time, Johnny Winter recently passed away. Now, his brother, Edgar Winter, and an all-star lineup of 1960s blues-rock pioneers assemble to pay tribute to Johnny at the Rock 'N' Blues Fest. Get ready for blazing guitar work and electric grooves on jukebox hits like "Johnny B. Goode," "Rock and Roll, Hoochie Koo," "Hustled Down in Texas," "Free Ride," "Frankenstein," "You Keep Me Hangin' On," "Get Ready," "Train to Nowhere" and many more as the Edgar Winter Band, Vanilla Fudge, Rare Earth's Peter Rivera and Savoy Brown's Kim Simmonds hit the stage with a night of their greatest hits, plus renditions of Johnny Winter's most famous tunes. The Grove is a challenging space to play in, and seating is uncomfortable since dinner tables are set up so that you end up sitting perpendicular to the stage. Certainly you can move your chair, but if it's a full house, it is hard to maneuver so that you are not blocking people.Shawn Colvin & Steve Earle: Songs & Stories, Together On Stage info • Jul 14 2014 star this tip starred

Los Angeles’s premier comedy band, The Dan Band, comes to the Grove of Anaheim . Known for their explicit covers of female-performed pop songs, The Dan Band’s live show has become a staple of Los Angeles nightlife.
The Dan Band was created by actor/comedian Dan Finnerty and has appeared in multiple hilarious comedy films such as Old School (who could ever forget their memorable wedding reception performance of Bonnie Tyler’s “Total Eclipse of the Heart”?), Starsky & Hutch, and most recently The Hangover. The band is also well known for their expletive-heavy versions “Lady” by Styx, “Milkshake” by Kelis, Toni Basil’s “Mickey,” and many others. Finnerty and The Dan Band put on a show that is equal parts high-energy singing, dancing and blowing the audience’s collective mind. Entertainment Weekly has dubbed The Dan Band, “the hottest ticket in town.”
In Spring 2005, Finnerty’s spectacular live performance was captured in a Bravo special executive-produced by none other than Steven Spielberg and directed by Charlie’s Angels director McG in 2006 entitled Dan Finnerty & the Dan Band I am Woman. The Dan Band made its Side One Dummy Records debut in 2006 with an album that captures its raucous, no-holds-barred stage extravaganza in all its glory, recorded live at the Hollywood Avalon and including many of the group’s all-time classics. Exult to the speeded-up punk-rock of their Abba medley and buckle up for a profanity-laced Irene Cara tribute, featuring “Flashdance” and “Fame.” The record has sold over 40,000 copies to date.
For the show at the Grove, Dan Finnerty will bring his very own brand of naughty and nice to the holidays with songs from his album “HO: A DAN BAND XMAS” along with a full set of The Dan Band’s ingenious cover songs. “HO” is full of Finnerty originals destined to become humorous holiday classics, tunes like the lustful “I Wanna Rock U Hard This Xmas,” “Ho Ho Ho” – an R&B send up about Santa’s encounter with a lady of the night and the PC-minded “Christmakwanzakah.” The hilarious video for “Please Don’t Bomb Nobody This Holiday,” features many celebrity cameos, including Sheryl Crow, Christina Applegate, Nicole Scherzinger from The Pussycat Dolls, Kyle Gass from Tenacious D, Neil Patrick Harris, Meg Ryan, Macy Gray, Christopher Guest, among others. Not one to completely forget his sensitive lady ballad roots, Finnerty also provides “Mrs. Claus,” an inspirational number that urges Santa’s overlooked mate to stand up for herself and be counted.
