This is a very nice museum. The building is lovely and the lighting is really nice.Written on Nov 02 2009
The exhibit was very good. They gave you good information about the stages of his time as the leader of France and the exhibition contained many great artifacts.
It was very nice to have an exhibit like this that was not on the west side of Los Angeles.
They have good exhibits coming in the near future.
There is no permanant collection.....they only do visiting exhibits.
A great Goldstar bargain.

Interesting display. I came home and read up on Napoleon online. I wish I had done that before I saw the exhibit. Allow plenty of time because it is a fairly large collection. I wish they would have had a timeline to help me put things in perspective. Muzeo is doing a good job for a new museumWritten on Oct 13 2009

The exhibit collection was extensive, considering Napoleon came to power 200 years ago. Fortunately, the French people have a strong sense of history and also of preservation, so these artifacts still exist for us to appreciate. I can only guess at the negotiating it took for these items from multiple collections to come together for this exhibit.Written on Nov 02 2009
I was sorely disappointed in the poor lighting of some of the artifacts and paintings. Some were inadequately lit, and some were not lit at all. One painting in a corner was completely dark, and on looking up, no lamp had been provided at all for that piece. Other pieces were lit from so far away that the accompanying notes were impossible to read. The museum staff needs to walk through the exhibit regularly to check that it's properly lit and all lamps are functioning.
The Muzeo is a good exhibition space, and was completely unexpected in downtown Anaheim. It consists of two buildings, one of which houses a permanent collection on the history of the city. An adjunct '2nd Empire' collection is housed in this building, separately from the Napoleon exhibit. I found some wonderful paintings there, well worth the trouble.
Getting to the Muzeo building was a challenge on Oct. 31st, as there was a Halloween celebration and street fair going on, and the Promenade entrance to the parking structure was closed off for that. Found another parking structure and walked the length of the street fair, about 1/2 block, through a nice courtyard area in front of the Muzeo.
Staff could have been more involved and service-oriented. Tickets are sold in the gift shop area, and while sales staff answered questions promptly and courteously, I got no sense that they were in any other way interested in the exhibit. When I asked about the numerous lights that were dark in the exhibit, one staff member said, "Oh, I'm sorry. They're waiting for them to be fixed."

The exhibit was really put together well. The explanation cards and commentary near each display were quite informative. I had not heard of Museo before and went in with low expectations. I was very pleasantly surprised. We spent over two hours at the exhibit.Written on Oct 26 2009

Description
The goal of this unique exhibition is multi-fold. First, it allows visitors the opportunity to see beyond the “legend” of Napoléon Bonaparte to gain an understanding of this complex figure as a man. Second, it reveals how art and design played a key role in creating not only his Empire, but also his lasting place in history and in the public’s consciousness. Third, it provides a highly entertaining experience for the audience... allowing them to encounter the type of historic objects and art that can rarely be seen outside the halls of the great museums and palaces of Europe.
