Three acting troupes rehearse the same classical passion play at three key moments in history in Passion Play, a clever and highly original comedy-drama from Tony Award-winner and Pulitzer Prize-nominee Sarah Ruhl (In the Next Room, or the vibrator play). Ruhl has been hailed as "one of the brightest new talents to emerge in the theater" by The New York Times, and in Passion Play she weaves a funny and lusty tale of community spirit, individual morality and global politics set in three vastly different historical periods: Queen Elizabeth's England, Hitler's Germany and Reagan's America. The Chance does a musical every sumer and I always make a point not to miss it. I am never disappointed and often return to see the same show again, bringing along more friends or family. I will return for another showing of Bloody, Bloody Andrew Jackson. This is a small and intimate venue that draws you, as the audience, into the performance. This show is high energy, with a driving musical score that varies from crazy, jumping up and down to mellow ballads and acoustic guitar. The story of Andrew Jackson is surprisingly relevant to today and the narration is done with pathos and humor. You will leave having enjoyed the best history lesson ever...definitely a must see!
