Kelly, a young artist who sculpts baby dolls for a living, begins to suspect that a demanding client just might be the mother who abandoned her in Reborning. Written by noted young playwright Zayd Dohrn (Outside People, Want, Sick), Reborning is a dark comedy-cum-psychological thriller in which art and life become disturbingly interchangeable as Kelly progresses in her very personal and potentially unsettling investigation. Oanh Nguyen directs the Southern California premiere of this singular and thought-provoking piece at Chance Theater. Learn More

My favorite part of this production was the set, which I think really transforms a small off-beat theater into an incredibly versatile and engaging space. Projections on the scenery background really add context to the story.Written on Jan 30 2012
As a musical, I will say I didn't like the score. The melodies do not soar, and too much of the singing is in a spoken style. This does not fault the actors who are working tremendously hard in this production. I think they can only go as far as the music and the writing allows them to.
All in all, I still recommend seeing this show, even if it isn't a Broadway showstopper. The theater is a really nice place, and I think they work hard to put together good, innovative productions on a local professional theater budget.

This play was phenomonal !! Melinda and Robert did a fabulous job of making the audience feel like they were a part of the story. The simple stage setting was so good, fit the play perfectly. I would recommend that everyone see this play.Written on Feb 20 2012

Very Talented performers; an enjoyable evening and fun entertainment. Venue had ample parking but slightly difficult to find as it was located in an industrial complex. Would have given it 5stars but the seating was a bit odd. No intermission (but it's a rather short event) so limit your liquid consumption early in the day to enable comfortably sitting through the entire show.Written on Mar 07 2012
