Directed by Maestro Victor Vener, the renowned California Philharmonic comes to the infield of the Santa Anita Race Track for the annual Festival on the Green. It's a perfect way to spend a summer evening. Enjoy a picnic dinner while taking in the beautiful view of the San Gabriel Mountains set to a live jazz band. Then relax under the stars to the night's eclectic musical program, a blend of classic rock and pop favorites, Broadway show tunes and classical pieces. The first night kicks off with special guests The Fab Four, the ultimate Beatles tribute band. Afterward, the Cal Phil brings the gorgeously layered harmonies of The Beach Boys to a full orchestra. Beethoven concludes the evening, with Symphony No. 6, Pastoral. The second night features the Cal Phil Chorale singing Broadway hits by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber as well as selections from classic operas by Puccini, such as La Bohème Learn More

view more less of this reviewCalphil Concerts are always great. The four vocalists were outstanding.
The new facility is OK, but not as nice as the Arboretum. They could use more lighting in the audience area, before and after the performance and during intermission. Its also a long walk from the parking area to the seating area.
star this review starred report as inappropriateWe were disappointed with the new location of the Festival on the Green. We were more comfortable with the smaller venue, the choice of songs. Felt Carmen was too long and if there were subtitles, possibly it would have been more enjoyable. Didn't understand the story. We definitely enjoyed the outdoors with the beautiful weather. The parking was closer and was very to park once you found the entrance. I think the entrance should been explained more (gate 6) so we didn't have to go all around the Santa Anita Mall. If they stated it was off Colorado, it would have been easier to find. ( possibly telling which off ramp from the 210 would have helped too.)

We especially liked Maestro Victor Vener who has a most enjoyable persona. We were seated at a 10 person table with a group of folks that we didn't know but they were all very nice and a lot of fun to share the evening with. I would definitely do this again.
