More Details About This Event: Donny Edwards
2006 & 2007 “Tribute to the King” Grand Champion Featured Finalist, ABC TV’s “The Next Best Thing: Who Is The Greatest Celebrity Impersonator” "It's Elvis!", scream many folks when they first see Donny Edwards--they can't believe their eyes. His strong resemblance to the King has gotten him acclaim throughout the world. But Edwards is not just another pretty face. His voice is just as outstanding. He recreates--in every detail--the look, voice, moves, and stage presence of Elvis Presley from the young 1950s rock ‘n’ roll icon to the Vegas Elvis of the 1970s. Edwards started performing in 2002 in Texas when his family talked him into joining a local Elvis Impersonator Contest—the first of many such contests he has won throughout the US.
Donny is the most sought out young Elvis Tribute Artist in the country, and while Edwards performs daily in Las Vegas, he has also appeared around the world in such exotic places as Argentina, Cancun, and Hong Kong and recently had a role singing on the soap opera, "The Young and The Restless." He won the Gibson Guitar Company’s 2005 People's Choice Award for the Best ‘50s Elvis, and Edwards was voted 2006 and 2007 Grand Champion of “Tribute To The King” at the Isle of Capri in Mississippi where he performed with the legendary Jordanaires. He was also invited to Mississippi in June, 2005 where he performed at the Tupelo Festival commemorating the 50th Anniversary of Elvis returning to his birthplace. He now performs quite often with The Jordanaires, The Sweet Inspirations and DJ Fontana. He is a versatile performer with the ability to re-create each era of Elvis Presley’s life. Donny’s performance is dynamic, as he brings you back to the early years of the 50’s with his Gold Lame jacket and songs of the movie years, to the sexy, black leather '68 Comeback years, ending with the legendary Vegas years. Donny maintains a performance of incredible authenticity. His incredible look, singing, humbleness, charm and southern speaking voice will make you feel like you are with the King.
