Urban comedy star Guy Torry headlines the Arlington Improv this weekend. He got his start as a regular on the UPN sitcom Good News, then took his stand-up act around the world. The popularity of his shows led to appearances on Def Comedy Jam, The Tonight Show with Jay Leno and Comedy Central. He was the creator and host of "Phat Tuesdays," a comedy night that ran for 10 years at The Comedy Store, and an original member of the Kings of Comedy. In addition to his numerous television appearances, Torry has several film roles, most notably as the convict Lamont in American History X, a role for which he received rave reviews in Variety, Entertainment Weekly, and New York Magazine. Torry continues to perform completely uncut and unplugged stand-up across the country. He describes his act as a "pot of gumbo," poking fun at a diverse range of subjects, from global politics to relationships.
