Signature Theatre presents Chess, from the composers of Mamma Mia! and the lyricist of The Lion King and Jesus Christ Superstar. It's 1986, and the world's two greatest chess masters -- one American, one Russian -- are competing for the top title. Their greatest contest, however, is for the love of the same woman. Originally produced on Broadway in 1988, this Tony-nominated cult-rock musical explores the classic themes of love, loss and betrayal.

Use free garage on Randolph Street behind Cake Love. It's the best and quite easy.

Parking was a little bit of a challenge but eventually found a spot.

Pretty darn good theatre! This is the first time I have ever used GOLDSTAR in Washington DC. I'm glad to know that I can always get 1/2 priced tickets when I travel this way again.

Wish we had seen it sooner so we could have seen it again--it was that good. The band was terrific, the voices excellent, including the ensemble. A very engaging story. I especially loved how the 3 main characters each had solo songs that allowed them to "think out loud" and soul-search. All three of them were tops. The one area that detracted from the performance was the dancing of the ensemble, particularly the girls. They sure could sing, but they did not move like dancers.

I enjoyed this play. A little darker than I expected. My assigned seat was in the next to the last row and the acoustics were not fabulous as I was at the same level as the rock band orchestra. It was hard to hear the words some times.
