Over four hours of boring music and mixed acting.

Some parts work, but most doesn't. There is no book to tie things together. Minor characters get the best songs - and you aren't sure why! The spurned fiance is the only character with any motivation or arc thru the whole play. One minor character shows up, gets a spiffy number he leads, and comes back in a box at the end of the same number. It's slick but means nothing in context. This production isn't 'inside' the heads of the major characters clearly enough (or they just don't have anything interesting to say) to make any sense as a show. If you haven't seen the movie (or read the book) you don't have a chance of knowing what's happening. Waaay too long. Everyone tries hard but it needs to be (heavily) workshopped - it's not ready for prime time.

...and where's the famous scene where they find oil?!?

Excellent show. Yes it was 4hrs long, but it didn't seem like it at all. The music and acting was GREAT. I'd definitely recommend the play if you enjoy a good musical.
