The 21/24 program, part of the American Musical Voices Project: Next Generation, returns to Signature Theatre with a staged reading of a new musical based on Dodie Smith's classic novel about an eccentric family living in a crumbling English castle in the 1930s. The tale follows the coming of age of the two daughters (played by Lauren Culpepper and Alexis Brokovic) who grow up largely neglected by their Bohemian parents. The music by Next Generation Composer Award recipient Peter Foley encompasses a range of musical styles from 1930s melodies to lyrical ballads and captures the experience of growing up and falling in love in a world that seems to be spinning out of control.

The 21/24 program, part of the American Musical Voices Project: Next Generation, returns for two nights this July with a new musical reading based on the novel I Capture the Castle by Dodie Smith (One Hundred and One Dalmatians). With music by Next Generation Composer Award recipient Peter Foley, lyrics by Marion Adler, book by Kenneth Vega and directed by Aaron Posner, I Capture the Castle is a charming tale of an eccentric artistic family, the Mortmains, who move into a decaying English castle in the 1930s.
