As usual Synetic did a fabulous job. It's the only theatre in town offering this type of physical, gymnastic, and acrobatic performance. Also features original music. Unique. Entertaining. Highly recommended. Go see it!!

If you loved the 1981 movie "Excalibur", you will not be disappointed in this wonderful production which, with only a few deviations (a nod to the recent "King Arthur" movie and Marion Zimmer Bradley's "Mists of Avalon"), stays VERY close.

From the original music, lighting, and wonderfully creative set (not to mention the incredibly talented cast working in ankle deep water), this is a fairly amazing re-telling of the "Excalibur" legend. Peter Marks' WashPost review seemed to harp on the water, but we found it very effective for this version of the story.

If you want jousting, go to RenFest. If you want stage magic that focuses on the intense passions and dark mystic qualities of the story, then this is the show for you.

Great job, Synetic! This was my first time seeing one of your shows, but you certainly lived up to your incredible reputation.

Other details:
-- Show is performed without intermission.
-- Arthur is performed in the Crystal City theater that Arena Stage used during their renovations. Parking has never been an issue for us in the underground lot below the theatre.
-- Splash-zone - the first two rows (C & D) take a lot of splashing water. We were in Row E on the right and still felt a few drops in a only a couple scenes. (there was a large contigent of exchange students that moved to fill the splash-zone just before the show started, so the cast may have been giving them a little extra - not sure). If you do not want to get wet at all, sit in Row G or farther back.
-- Note: Sit in the center section if you can. Like most shows, the show is clearly focused/staged for the center section. Our Goldstar seats were on the Orchestra Right side section in row E, so some of the "hidden magic" is seen from that angle. The show is definitely best seen from the center of the audience. The size of the house was sufficient for us to move (especially after the high school students moved to the splash-zone). The show wasn't bad from our seats, but we should have moved to the center section to get the "full effect".
-- If you do not like shows with stage fog, haze, or strobes/flashlights in your face, this is not the show for you. The entire theatre is full of haze from the moment you walk in.

This unique telling of the story of King Arthur is visually exciting from start to finish. The physical prowess of the remarkable cast is breathtaking. From Arthur's birth to his demise and departure to Avalon, no detail is left out in this 90 minute spectacle. Like nothing I have ever seen before, this production will linger in my mind's eye for a long time, I'm sure. Remarkable. Not to be missed!

Awesome Synetic performance, as usual. I'm really surprised that there were so many empty seats! People are missing out! If you don't want to get wet, sit at least 4-5 rows back.
