This perfect summer night out features red-hot cabaret acts in a cool, air-conditioned atmosphere. The eclectic entertainment mix ranges from Great American Songbook standards to original musical works, from show-tunes to country to contemporary pop. There's something for all tastes in an atmosphere described as "positively swanky" in The New York Times. Among this year's performers are Alysha Umphress, who's soon to star in the Broadway revival of On the Town, and Second City alum Colleen McHugh as Barbra Streisand. I was totally blown away by Signature Theatre's production and unique staging of this play. I had seen Les Miz a few years ago for the first time and "just didn't get the hoopla" and why it had people crying. THIS production was so intimate that I got caught up in the music and acting. The production resumed with a round of applause from the audience for the professionalism. I would definitely go again.
