Good cast, great costumes, classic songs and an enthralling story make for a terrific night out. The first act drags a bit in a couple spots, but it's still an outstanding show.Written on Dec 03 2009

Great revival of a classic show, the best I've ever seen. One or two really incredible voices.Written on Jan 18 2010

The set was minimal but still the show was really well-put. It was a pretty small stage but the actors used all of it really well to make the audience feel connected. We were one of the younger guests...there were older folks around us, but it was still fun for us mid-20-year-olds. Overall, I would recommend it to my friends who are in the mood for some theater.Written on Dec 07 2009

Description
Book and Lyrics by Oscar Hammerstein II
Music by Jerome Kern
Based on the novel Show Boat by Edna Ferber
Directed by Eric Schaeffer
Featuring Sandy Bainum, Terry Burrell, Will Gartshore, VaShawn McIlwain, Jim Newman, Bobby Smith, Stephanie Waters, Delores King Williams, and Harry Winter.
In the vein of earlier productions like Allegro and Les Misérables, Signature Theatre reinvents this American classic in a brand new production that features such beloved songs as "Make Believe," "Bill," "Can't Help Lovin 'Dat Man," and "Ol' Man River."
Spanning the years 1880 to 1927, this lyrical masterpiece concerns the lives, loves, and heartbreaks of three generations of show folk on the Mississippi. Show Boat is a sweeping tale of enduring love and devastating hatred, illuminating through unforgettable music the cruelty of prejudice – and the beauty of romance.
Show Boat is a musical epic, a classic theater event not to be missed.
