Session 1: Revisiting Company
May 1, 7:30-8:30pm
This isn’t the first time Signature’s done Company. Following Signature’s production of Company in 1993, it produced a concert version in 2001. Director Eric Schaeffer will share his vision for Company: why he’s revisiting it, why this show has proven to be so popular for over 40 years, and how this production will differ from any other production of Company.
Session 2: The Sound of Sondheim
May 8, 7:30-9:00pm
Spend an evening with Eric Schaeffer, musical director John Kalbfleisch, and members of the cast to discuss the mastermind behind not only Company, but Sweeney Todd, Assassins, Sunday in the Park with George, and countless others as well. Listen to selections from Company and discuss with others the power of Sondheim’s work and why and how Sondheim has become Signature’s signature.
Session 3: Tech Rehearsal
May 15, 7:00-9:00pm
The sets, props, lights, costumes, and actors all come together to bring this Tony Award®–winning musical to life. Watch a technical rehearsal as all the elements are integrated into “the production.”
Session 4: The Music
May 17, 12:00-1:30pm
It’s called a “sitz probe.” This is the first rehearsal where the actors and the orchestra meet and make music together under the direction of Jon Kalbfleisch.
Session 5: The Final Dress Rehearsal
May 19, 7:30pm
You’ve heard the music, you’ve seen rehearsal, you’ve discussed the show. Now, join Signature Theatre as a part of Company’s first audience at the “invited dress.” See how the production comes together as the final element – the audience – is added. Be there front and center.
Session 6: The Finale
May 20, 6:30 – 7:30pm
Join director Eric Schaeffer in Signature’s Mead Lobby for a bite to eat and share a conversation about the Company experience. Exchange your comments, questions, and critiques.
