Based on Virginia Woolf's masterpiece, Sarah Ruhl's Orlando is a compelling look at love, gender and how relationships affect our lives. Ruhl brings her trademark blend of feminism and fantasy to Woolf's gender-bending tale that follows the young nobleman Orlando, who decides never to grow old. He falls asleep one day and wakes to find himself a woman. Orlando's swashbuckling adventure spans 300 years during which time Orlando ages only 36 years before landing in the 20th century where, she must come to terms with not only her past, but a present that challenges her. Quotes & Highlights
- "Stop Kiss is a deeply passionate drama about acceptance, self-discovery, and coping with life in the face of adversity. Ettman, along with an extremely talented cast, takes this well-known production and plucks out the finer nuances of Son’s writing, exposing brilliant moments of raw humanity to the audience." --DC Metro Theater Arts (5 stars)
- "Each scene hits harder than the last, leaving the audience with a gripping conclusion. Stop Kiss does not strive to be a piece about a hate crime, about coming out, about uncertain safety in the big city. In fact, it strives to be the opposite. At its heart, Stop Kiss is a show about life, and how it moves clumsily but steadily forward, forcing us to make choices, and challenging us to be brave."--DC Theatre Scene
