This was a hilarious show like Drew Carey's Who's Line is it Anyway, uncensored with more audience interaction. We had a great time!Written on Jul 18 2011

Hate to say it, but not like the Second City of old. Mostly relationships and quick takes, rather than political satire and commentary on more important issues. On the other hand, the predominantly young crowd seemed to enjoy it very much...Written on Jul 18 2011

The event was very well done. It was quite funny, although there were a few skits that were not too funny, overall they did a great job and they were entertaining. I would recommend the show and would see it again.Written on Jul 18 2011

A nice break from the monotony. The actual improv scenes in the show were more entertaining than the "best of" material. We had some good laughs and an overall positive experience. I'll definitely be taking in a Second City show when in Chicago!Written on Jul 18 2011

Description
Chicago's legendary comedy theatre The Second City performs live at the Synetic Theater in Crystal City. The performance will feature some of the best sketches, songs, and improvisations from Second City's fifty year history.
For a theatre that has built its reputation on launching new talent and creating topical comedy ripped from the day's headlines, an anniversary show presents some real challenges. Those Eisenhower jokes just don't go over like they used to.
So the Second City has created a comedy revue that dips into the past as a bridge to the present. You'll see snippets of scenes written by a plethora of comedy greats - Alan Arkin, Gilda Radner, Bill Murray, Stephen Colbert, Tina Fey and more - all who graced the stages of The Second City over the last 50 years. But you'll also see how the current ensemble of future stars has used the innovations of their predecessors to create comedy that is wholly and inextricably of its time - comedy that speaks to our economic woes, our political hopes and what it means to be a living in such extraordinary times.
The Second City has always served as a bit of a tonic for times of difficulty and upheaval. It's our job to laugh at what scares us; to make the unfunny funny; and to provide audiences with a chance to let go for a couple hours and just laugh.
Founded in Chicago in 1959, The Second City has become the premier training ground for the comedy world's best and brightest. Their alumni list reads like a who's who of American comedy, as it includes: Mike Nichols, Elaine May, Alan Arkin, Joan Rivers, Robert Klien, Peter Boyle, Harold Ramis, John Blushi, Dan Aykroyd, Bill Murray, Gilda Radner, George Wendt, Martin Short, John Candy, Bonnie Hunt, Tim Meadows, Chris Farley, Mike Myers, Tina Fey, Steve Carell, Stephen Colbert, Julia Louis-Dreyfus, Horatio Sanz, Ryan Stiles and countless others.
Not only will an evening with The Second City provide audiences with the chance to see comedy stars in the making, but they will also have the opportunity to see absolutely hilarious satire and cutting-edge improvisation. No topic or subject matter is off limits for The Second City. If your parents asked you not to speak about it at the dinner table, chances are it will be made fun of in an evening with The Second City.
