Miraculously retaining its comic timing and timeless wit more than a century later, Jerome K. Jerome's Three Men in a Boat (To Say Nothing of the Dog) was originally published as a hilarious novel in 1889. Written as a travelogue, the lively story tells of three young men -- and a devoted terrier named Montmorency (played here by ... well, not a dog) -- on a boating holiday that quickly devolves into a series of absurd misadventures. Directed by Derek Goldman (and featuring D.C. theater favorites Tim Getman, Tom Story, Rob Jansen and Alex Mills), this adaptation brings to life one of the funniest novels of all time in a must-see show. this was our first Synetic event, and we really enjoyed it. i do wish that i had reviewed what the Tempest was about before seeing it to better understand the performance. i wonder if Synetic has thought about adding a Greek chorus or perhaps some sort of subtitle to explain the action. in any event, we had a great time. performing in water was particularly interesting as were the costumes, visuals and music. it really involved all of the senses to make for a great evening out. we also would like to comment on the signs pointing out where Synetic was located, the free parking, and the very spacious theatre seats all were excellent. we are now great fans of Synetic.
Splash Zone Seats:
The first three rows of the theater will be in the “splash zone.” Patrons in the “Splash Zone” should expect to get splashed with water from the water stage. Because it’s live theater, this could range from droplets to your daily recommended water intake. The theater will provide ponchos to patrons in these rows.
