The Atlanta Ballet's Nutcracker extravaganza comes to glorious life on the sparkling stage at the Fox, complete with beautiful fairies, handsome princes, dancing snowflakes and a lovely young girl on her way to the Sugar Candy Kingdom. With choreography by John McFall and Tchaikovsky's delightful score played live by the Atlanta Ballet Orchestra, it's a traditional holiday treat that's been enchanting generations of Atlantans for more than 50 years. Adding to the excitement, the Georgia Youth Choir will be lending its talents to Act I's "Snow Scene," and for the first two weeks of the run, the mysterious Drosselmeyer will be played by master illusionist and America's Got Talent finalist Drew Thomas, bringing an extra touch of magic to the proceedings. Coming to Atlanta January 14–22, 2012
Set in New York City during the depths of the Depression in December of 1933, Annie is the ultimate Cinderella story. It recounts the adventures of a little girl searching for her lost parents. Eleven-year-old Annie attempts an escape from the municipal orphanage and the alcoholic clutches of the hilariously mean and scheming Miss Hannigan.
During her many exploits, Annie befriends a stray dog named Sandy, and crosses the path of some very interesting characters, including billionaire Daddy Warbucks. Ever optimistic, Annie wins the help and the hearts of everyone she meets.
Annie is full of well known songs such as "You're Never Fully Dressed Without a Smile" and the immortal "Tomorrow" that will have you humming and singing all the way home.
