Seminar: Broadway Hit Comedy From the Creator of Smash

Full Price:
$23.00 - $25.00
Our Price:
$11.50 - $12.50

Broadway hit Seminar takes the stage at Actor's Express. A new comedy by Pulitzer Prize nominee Theresa Rebeck (creator of NBC's Smash), Seminar centers on Leonard, an experienced author with a long and dramatic history. He's hired by four aspiring novelists to conduct an intensive 10-week writing seminar in an Upper West Side apartment. True to Rebeck's rep as the master of quarrelsome comedy, the students get much more for their $5,000 fee than they bargained for. They soon find themselves attending a master class in ruthless and reckless behavior where writing is a blood sport, words are deadly weapons, and sex is just a tool of the trade. Learn More

I arrived at 7:55 pm at the address given; there was no signage from the main street; no sandwich board outside to note that there was a play. I talked to five persons at various spots in the huge complex and no one had heard of the Actor's Express theater. It was 8:15 pm before I finally found the theater. The box office was closed; no one at the door; no one at the concession; just a No Admittance sign. I waited until 9:00 pm, hoping for an intermission. Finally, some one arrived and offered a free ticket for another night.

Warning: The building with 887 on the outside along Marietta Street is NOT the location of the theater!

I was in no way prepared for the crassness of the sexual talk about B.J."s, the F word etc. The description of 'tender story of youth and love" was HIGHLY misleading. I was embarrassed to have taken friends to this play and we left at intermission.

The venue was quaint and personable. The play (actors and actresses) was phenomenal! What a great evening. Would highly recommend this event!
