Cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan & the Estonian National Symphony Orchestra
Armenian cellist Narek Hakhnazaryan is just 25 years old, but he's already won several major contests, including the prestigious Tchaikovsky International Competition. He'll be the featured soloist on Dvorak's cello concerto as the acclaimed Estonian National Symphony Orchestra (ENSO) comes to Emory, under the baton of Nikolai Alexeev. Building on a rich 80-year history, ENSO has broadened its international reputation in recent years, winning a 2003 Grammy. This appearance opens with Overture No. 2, from their country's most famous composer, Veljo Tormis, and closes with Brahms' triumphant-sounding Symphony No. 2 in D Major.
