In one of the latest works by Pulitzer Prize-winning David Mamet (American Buffalo, Glengarry Glen Ross), two attorneys are charged with defending a white man accused of raping an African-American woman. In the face of unraveling evidence, the lawyers' own uncomfortable beliefs about race rise to the surface. Director John Dillon tackles Mamet's rat-a-tat language and sharp jabs in this confrontational comedy that skewers modern-day "polite" society. Race premiered on Broadway in 2009 starring James Spader and David Alan Grier. Learn More

The actors and the director of the New African Grove Theatre Company did justice to August Wilson's Gem of the Ocean. A very good quality production. The scenery and lighting accented the both simplicity and the depth of the play's messages which are still relevant today. Typical of August Wilson, the play was lengthy and at times the character's dialogs too long, yet that is due to the playwright and not the director. I would encourage the actors to speak up a little louder and/or have the volume of the acoustics increased because at times the dialog was lost.
