The Fern Theatre Company presents Steven Dietz's Private Eyes, a quirky romantic comedy about jealousy and revenge that examines truth, reality and marital fidelity. Two married actors find their relationship sorely tested when the wife becomes involved in an affair with the director of the play they're in. Is the affair real, or is it part of the play being rehearsed -- a play within a play -- or maybe something imagined by one of the characters? Stay on your toes, because you and your fellow audience members will step into the role of detective as art imitates life and nothing is ever quite what it seems in this fun thriller about love, lust and the power of deception.

Parts were funny but mostly your perspective keeps changing all throughout the play until you can't tell what is real and what is imagined.

Venue not the best. That area of Atlanta is grungy. Play was very good though and the actors and management were wonderful!

Quotes & Highlights

  • "Dietz has created a romantic comedy in which what's real inevitably turns out to be an illusion. It's a play within a play within a play within a play within a psychiatrist's office — a Chinese box full of tricks and surprises."  —Chicago Tribune
  • "Steven Dietz's … spiraling structure and breathless pacing provide enough of an oxygen rush to revive any moribund audience member … Dietz's mastery of playmaking … is cause for kudos."  —Village Voice
