Full of sizzling songs, seductive dance numbers and a story that packs a powerful punch in our fame-obsessed society, Atlanta Lyric Theatre's production of Chicago tells a tantalizing tale set amidst the razzle-dazzle decadence of the 1920s. It's the story of convicted murderers Roxie Hart and Velma Kelly, who will stop at nothing to get the attention of the press and celebrity attorney Billy Flynn. Their malicious crimes turn them into media darlings, producing a barrage of sensational headlines, the likes of which might just as easily be ripped from today's tabloids. A smash on Broadway and in its film adaptation, this biting satire features the unforgettable music of John Kander and Fred Ebb, including "All That Jazz," "Cell Block Tango" and many more hits. A friend and I went to see the musical Rebirth Friday night at the Fox Theatre. The Positives: great singers; outstanding use of technology/graphics; Lynn Whitfield; Nephew Tommy and other actors/actresses were pretty good; choreography was great. The Fox was a great location, but this event could've been held at a smaller venue since there were so many vacant seats!!!
The Negatives: storyline was somewhat confusing at first; sound system was weak (at times actors couldn't be heard); the play/musical was TOO long (8:00 - 11:57)!!! Both my friend and I occasionally dozed off, but we toughed it out until the end and left only after the actors took their last bow, which is proper etiquette. Some people left after intermission and that's not good!!!

My girlfriend and I loved the play but sorry to say our husbands did not. They both said it was too long (almost 4 hours). We went the 1st night of the play and they had some sound issues. The singing was fantastic and I would go see it again.
